Alex Griffiths is a lighting artist based in Seoul, South Korea under the name Loksu. Specializing in hardware and software design, he creates custom lighting systems for various artists, musicians, and commercial spaces.
At SCOPES Seoul, Loksu recreates the space of an old automobile assembly plant. As a freshly painted car exits the paint booth and passes through the inspection line, dazzling light fixtures shine down on it, revealing every detail and perfection the designer intended.
Using a built-in computerized control system, the giant, custom-made lights hang at an angle above the audience, illuminating the space like those on a factory assembly line in an awe-inspiring, multi-level light display. Loksu's piece is designed to encompass the entirety of the massive industrial venue, creating a common theme throughout, breathing life into the various elements, from the large industrial space to the artwork inside.
